Circa 2006, After trying a few different Alias's, I returned to the battle.net development scene after a short hiatus. I settled on the alias "Mesiah" and put my limited Photoshop skills to work and created this. I borrowed the "TM" seal from another Vivendi game (Scarface: The World Is Yours). Vivendi owned Blizzard at the time.
How my battle.net experience grew to shape my life
I am a self-taught software engineer with over 20 years of experience in the industry. I owe my passion for programming to my early days as a member of Blizzard's Battle.net community. Back then, online gaming was still in its infancy, and Battle.net was the first massively multiplayer online gaming platform that connected gamers from around the world.
I was in awe of the exceptionally talented and intelligent individuals who populated this community. They were gamers, programmers, designers, and artists who came together to create an immersive gaming experience that was unlike anything I had seen before. Being a part of this community was a privilege, and I was determined to learn as much as I could from these brilliant minds.
At first, I was just a casual gamer who enjoyed playing games on Battle.net. However, as I spent more time in the community, I started to notice the intricate details and mechanics that went into making the games work. I became fascinated with the programming side of things and decided to teach myself how to code.
The learning curve was steep, but the community members were always willing to help. They shared their knowledge, tips, and tricks with me, and I soaked it all up like a sponge. I spent countless hours tinkering with code, experimenting with different programming languages, and building my own games and mods.
The feedback and encouragement from the community were invaluable. They pushed me to new frontiers in learning, challenged me to think outside the box, and inspired me to pursue software engineering to great depths. Thanks to Battle.net, I found my passion and my calling for years to come.
Today, I am grateful for the lessons I learned as a member of the Battle.net community. Not only did I become a software engineer, but I also grew into a computer scientist with a vast skill-set that has aided me in so many facets of my life.
The experience taught me the importance of collaboration, creativity, and perseverance in the face of challenges. It showed me how to approach problems from multiple angles and how to think critically about complex systems. These skills have served me well in my career and in my personal life, as I have tackled everything from complex coding projects to complex life challenges.
I am forever grateful to the talented and intelligent individuals who pushed me to new frontiers in learning and inspired me to pursue a career in software engineering. They taught me more than just how to code; they showed me how to be a better problem solver, a better collaborator, and a better person.
So to all those who were a part of the Battle.net community, I honor your legacy and privilege. Thank you for the impact you had on my life, and may your contributions continue to inspire the next generation of innovators and learners.
